dc.descriptionThe article explores the definitions and usage of competence, especially in the context of training and development initiatives. The focus of the research deals with a thorough investigation of the competence approach and the peculiarities of its usage in the modern education. The main theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of the competence approach were systematized in modern pedagogy. It’s aimed at developing the complex methodology of the analysis of the competence approach, actualized in the modern education. We have focused on the notion of competence and on the widely‐recommended practice of defining learning and assessment in terms of the competence approach. The formation and development of a professional teacher as an active subject of educational process are now very significant, particularly in the development of professional standards of pedagogic activity.uk_UA
