Короткий опис(реферат)
The article is dedicated to the investigation of a comparative characteristic of usage frequency on the semantic level in the publicistic, scientific and belle-lettres styles. The goal is to study and compare usage frequency of lexical-semantic groups (LSG) of adjectives with LSG of nouns in 3 styles. Usage frequency of 22 groups of adjectives were studied. Every style is characterized by its own peculiarities and shows its unique features in usage frequency. Usage frequency showed specific characteristic features for every style. The following signs were determined for the publicistic style as “Estimation of value, meaning, quality and function”, “Nationality”, “Administrative, regional, class distinctions”. For the belle-lettres style such LSG of adjectives were distinguished as “Age, time”, “Colour”, “Emotional state, feelings”, “Natural and physical state”, “Traits of character, habits”, “Behaviour and actions to the object”, “Appearance”, “Estimation of mental abilities of a man”, “Temperature”. The scientific style is characterised by “Intensity and measure”, “Estimation of the object by space, distance, duration”, “Composition and material”. Such signs as “Field of activity”, “Geographical position” were characterised for the publicistic and scientific styles. Common signs for the scientific and belle-lettres styles were found as “Estimation of the object by form, volume, size”, “Estimation of the object in comparison with signs of others”. Signs of the object are compared in all styles but more often it is in the scientific style as there is a necessity not only to state results of the scientific development, investigations but to compare the received results with others. That’s why the comparison of the results is important for the objectivity of the received data and conclusions. Signs with a low usage frequency as “Religion, race”, “Speed”, “Estimation of functional activity of organs and parts of the body” were determined for three styles. So the investigation of usage frequency of different already existed collocations in speech reflects preservation in language of what it was and hence becomes the index of its potential possibilities in future.
